TOOLS  (1997-2005)

Tools intrigue me. They are something we use to do our work—the work of relationship, the work of viewing or measuring, and the work of the artist. They help us create something new and are symbolic of the ability to repair or improve things. They allow us to record our observations with acuity and accuracy. Artworks designed as perceptual devices are created as a way to gain insight; other pieces depict the tool as an agent of creativity and growth.
